Having spent many meaningful and formative years away from his native Buffalo, Jonathan Scarozza returns to St. Paul’s Cathedral with his wife, Subashini ‘Gem’, and his two children: seven year old daughter, Jeevitha, and four year old son, Ganesh.
Jonathan was born and raised in Buffalo, NY, and sang as a chorister in the St. Paul’s Cathedral Choir of Men and Boys. Much of his ‘raising’ happened on the campus of this cathedral. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Piano Performance from the University of Kentucky, in Lexington, and his Master’s in Organ Performance from SUNY Buffalo, under the guidance of Professor Roland Martin.
As an organist, Jonathan’s professional experience began in Buffalo, where he spent a little more than a year (1998-1999) as Organ Scholar under Dr. Dale Adelmann at St. Paul’s Cathedral. He was later the Associate Organist and Choirmaster at the Cathedral of the Incarnation in Garden City, Long Island, Assistant Organist at St. Luke’s Church in Atlanta, GA, and, most recently, Organist and Choirmaster at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Evanston, IL. This position in Evanston began in January of 2005 and concluded with Jonathan’s appointment as Organist and Choirmaster here at St. Paul’s in November of 2009.
